ZIP MKE and The Generosity Project are co-sponsoring an urban hike as part of the annual Jane's Walk festival, an international event in honor of Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), an urbanist and activist whose writings championed a fresh, community-based approach to city building.
This 5-mile (approximately 5-hour) walking tour will highlight historic and contemporary public works of art commemorating key social justice leaders and events, as well as art that heightens our collective social and cultural consciousness.
Beginning at 9th & Vliet, the 5 Miles of Art Justice Trail will link the near north side (Halyard Park), downtown, Marquette University, the Menomonee River Valley, and the near south side (Clarke Square/Walker’s Point).
Another focus of this walk will be participants documenting other sites of social, cultural, intellectual, and spiritual capital, and sharing neighborhood photos to the ZIP MKE website (www.zipmke.com).
