Kerri Root - Kerri Root (1).jpg

KERRI ROOT

Through observation and interpretation of people and our surrounding environment, Kerri Root’s illustrative work captures and reimagines the complexities of the human experience and the beauty of our surroundings through renderings of figures, portraiture, patterns and botanical imagery. She produces these studies initially as line drawings, then combines and reworks the imagery of the original gestures to create a finished piece often mixing graphite, ink, acrylic and watercolor. Kerri received her BA from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2000 in Literature and Art, has lived most recently in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida, and currently lives in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Her work is influenced by the various cultures and urban and natural beauty of all of these places as well as present-day social issues. She is currently an Artist in Residence at RedLine Milwaukee.
